John Lennon wrote beautiful lyrics of how the world could be. Now, imagine that in a one-hour groovy session you could learn practical ways that employment law impacts everyday HR life. Join attorneys Lee Geiger and Julie Pugh from the Cincinnati Graydon law firm to explore how the law fundamentally impacts HR decisions.
This session will examine how to properly screen, interview, background check and select potential job candidates. Lee and Julie will discuss the legal perils and protections of these important (but often overlooked) steps in the hiring process and will examine real world examples of policies gone wrong and how you can avoid these pitfalls. The session will also dive into how the law instructs employers to handle an employee's on-the-job antics. We will further the scenario with more issue-spotting regarding the end of employment decision. Finally, we will discuss the most commonly filed claim in employment cases - retaliation. Attendees will learn about governmental checks and balances, how to issue spot employment law risks, how the law directs HR decisions in a fact-based ways, and why certain details matter.
This session will help budding company leaders build a reputation for solid decision-making. You may say I'm a dreamer, but if you attend this session, it will come true!
