This session offers a more strategic, data-driven approach to compensation by making the logic behind pay decisions clear and repeatable. Participants will learn how to translate strategy and the real value of work into guidelines leaders can apply consistently, using a short list of practical inputs: the value of roles inside your organization, required skills, living wage, and basic market data (as a reference point, not the driver). We’ll also cover how to document and communicate decisions in ways that strengthen clarity and trust.
Co-presented with the Chief People Officer of Ronald McDonald House Southwest Ohio, the session includes a real-world case study on shifting compensation to better reflect internal role value, earning buy-in from executive leadership and the board, and strengthening employee trust—alongside complementary policy decisions that supported employees more broadly. Participants will leave with a lightweight diagnostic framework and decision-rule examples they can adapt, along with clear guidance for building a compensation philosophy in practice—so pay decisions are more consistent, easier to explain, and easier to sustain.
