Session Description
This engaging and interactive workshop takes participants on a journey through advanced Career Mapping techniques and the full implementation of a Personal Board of Advisors (PBA)—a concept already in action at some SHRM chapters through a partnership with Lattitude. Participants will move beyond foundational concepts to refine their career maps by identifying key achievements, current responsibilities, future aspirations, certifications, personal milestones, and skill development goals.

The session will feature collaborative, small-group activities where participants build and share their career maps and early versions of their PBA. This peer exchange creates a dynamic learning environment where attendees can gain new perspectives, identify gaps in their development, and explore real examples of how others are using career maps and PBAs to drive professional growth. A key focus of the workshop is the "10-seat PBA" model. Participants will reflect on and begin to fill these roles—such as the Buddy, Functional Mentor, Champion, and Supervisor—based on their current network and growth needs. Pete will guide participants through the -IREing process (Identify, Reach out, Engage), helping them take tangible next steps in building and activating their board.

Informed by a decade of research and practical implementation, Pete will also share actionable best practices for mentorship and organizational change management. Attendees will explore how to structure mentorship relationships, guide meaningful conversations, and embed these processes into company culture to support retention, engagement, and career development at scale.
