In this session, Jill Windelspecht—executive coach, leadership consultant, and neuroscience-based learning expert—will explore the brain science behind why learning often doesn’t stick. Drawing on research from neuroscience and the NeuroLeadership Institute’s AGES Model (Attention, Generation, Emotion, and Spacing), Jill will explain how learning is encoded into memory, why it is easily lost, and what must be present for learning to transfer into behavior change on the job.
Participants will gain insight into the invisible barriers that undermine learning, including cognitive overload, stress, passive content consumption, and one-time training events. You’ll learn why adding more content or more training time often reduces impact—and how small, intentional design choices can dramatically increase retention, engagement, and application without requiring a full program redesign.
This highly practical session will equip HR and L&D professionals with concrete strategies to strengthen existing programs across employee onboarding, leadership development, workshops, and team learning. Attendees will leave with ideas they can immediately apply to help employees not only understand new concepts—but actually use them in their day-to-day work.
Whether you are designing learning experiences, supporting leaders, or responsible for driving performance outcomes, this session will provide a clear, brain-based framework for moving learning from the classroom into real-world impact—so training doesn’t just inform, but transforms.
Jill Windelspecht, Founder and CEO of The Leaders’ Coach, has coached leaders for over 25 years. She equips you with the tools and mindset needed to build your most effective, authentic leadership style. Helping you ‘flip the script’ on your inner critic.
Here’s what it comes down to – what you think matters and impacts everything that you do. The problem is that most of our thinking is unconscious – almost 90%! As a Neuroplastician, Jill helps you pull back the curtain and take charge of your thinking and understand how to leverage the brain/body connection so that you can get the results you really want.
Jill partners with HR leaders to create high performing and engaged organizations, manage change, implement succession planning and leadership development strategies. As a Predictive Index consultant she helps you optimize your talent processes for high performance.
Prior to founding The Leaders’ Coach, Jill travelled the globe providing leadership development coaching as an HR executive. Her passion for leveraging neuroscience in coaching and training came from working with analytical thinkers and leaders in technical fields. Neuroscience shows that the ‘soft stuff’ or ‘soft skills’ have real data behind it - showing us logically how we are wired to think, feel and act – and most importantly, how we can leverage this to improve how we lead, communicate, make decisions and manage change!
Jill is a Certified Coach with an emphasis in emotional intelligence and neuroscience. She is sought after for executive coaching, organization consulting, leadership workshops, and speaking. She has been married to her husband, Kelly, for 29 years, and they have a wonderful son and daughter in law. She loves gardening and camping to connect with nature.
